Clubhouse
An Iconic Heritage
Games of golf have been won and lost over our links for far longer than the Club itself has existed. As early as 1527, the Registrum de Panmure records that Sir Robert Maule “exerciset the gowf, and oftymes past to Barry lynkes, quan the wadsie was for drink” – a reminder that golf has long been woven into this landscape.
Our Club was formally established in 1845, making us one of the oldest golf clubs in the world. We were also one of just twenty-four clubs that contributed to the purchase of the Amateur Championship trophy, first contested in 1885.
Over the years, our links has been recognised as a venue of national importance. We have hosted numerous amateur championships and have served as Final Qualifying for The Open Championship on several occasions. In 2019, we were proud to host Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship alongside the R&A Girls’ Amateur Championship.
The list of players who have competed here reads like a roll call of the game itself. Harry Vardon, Ted Ray, James Braid, Tommy Armour, Henry Cotton, Roberto De Vicenzo, Sandy Lyle and Padraig Harrington all played in earnest over our links. Others, including Gary Player, Nick Faldo and Dustin Johnson, have visited simply to enjoy the course.
We are proud of our heritage, but we wear it lightly.
Historic Lounges
Our unique and atmospheric lounges are full of character and style. Whether you are relaxing after a round in the casual 19th Hole or soaking up history in the Hogan Lounge, the Clubhouse offers a perfect setting to unwind.
The Trophy Cabinet is on view in the Hogan Lounge, featuring a number of prizes dating back to the club's inception in 1845.
Fine Scottish Dining
At Panmure we are delighted to employ the expertise of Craig McKinlay Catering who operates our food and beverage services with a dash of ‘something special’.
From a simple but delicious snack menu, to fine dining for events and larger parties in our formal Dalhousie Room, they will be happy to arrange catering to suit your golfing party's requirements.
